How to move your Paprika recipes to Nimblist

If you've spent years building a recipe library in Paprika, you shouldn't have to retype it to try something else. Nimblist reads Paprika's own export file and imports the whole library in one go.

1. Export your library from Paprika

Open Paprika on Mac or Windows and choose File → Export, then pick the Paprika Recipe Format. Paprika saves a single My Recipes.paprikarecipes file containing everything.

This is Paprika's own backup format, so you're not relying on a third-party scraper — and it's worth keeping a copy somewhere safe regardless of which app you use.

2. Import it into Nimblist

Sign in to Nimblist, open the Recipes page, and choose the Paprika import option. Select the .paprikarecipes file and Nimblist does the rest — it reads every recipe in the archive in a single upload (files up to 20 MB, which comfortably covers a large library).

When it finishes you'll see exactly how many recipes were imported, along with anything that was skipped, so nothing disappears silently.

3. What carries across

Each recipe brings its title, ingredients, directions, servings, total time and source link. Your Paprika categories become Nimblist tags, and categories shared across several recipes are merged into a single tag rather than duplicated.

How many recipes can I import?

The free plan holds up to 25 recipes in total, so a larger library will import the first 25 and tell you how many were skipped. Premium imports the entire library in one pass.

What's different once your recipes are in

Nimblist is built around the shared shopping list rather than the recipe box. Ingredients from any recipe drop onto a list that everyone in your household sees update in real time — tick milk off in the shop and it vanishes from your partner's phone instantly. Items sort themselves into supermarket aisles as they're added.

From there, a meal planner builds the week's list for you, a household pantry tracks what's already in the cupboard so you can skip rebuying it, and you can add to your list hands-free with Alexa or Home Assistant.

What it costs

Shared lists, real-time sync and household sharing are free, forever, including up to 25 saved recipes. Premium adds unlimited recipe import, the meal planner and pantry matching for £2.99/month or £29.99/year. There's also a one-time £79.99 Founders licence — pay once, keep Premium permanently, no recurring fee — limited to the first 250 people who take it.

One account covers every platform: web, iOS, Android, and the browser extension.
